How Poland income tax works

The calculator applies the published tax bands to income after the supported deductions and personal allowance. Each band applies only to the portion inside it. These bands use the taxable income base.

Employee costs of obtaining income (PLN 250 a month): PLN 3000. The result includes the actual allowed amount and the marginal effect of tapering.

Tax credits and reductions applied after the main tariff: Tax-reducing amount (PLN 3,600). Their amounts depend on the supported income profile; they do not reduce additional taxes or contributions.

The displayed tax total covers Personal income tax (PIT, tax scale). See the country assumptions for details.

Calculation assumptions

  • Employee social contributions: pension 9.76% and disability 1.5% up to the 2026 annual limit of PLN 282,600, and sickness 2.45% on all pay. They reduce the tax base.
  • Health contribution: 9% of gross pay less employee social contributions. It does not reduce tax.
  • Tax: 12% up to PLN 120,000 and 32% above, on pay less social contributions and PLN 3,000 yearly employee costs, reduced by the PLN 3,600 tax-reducing amount.
  • Amounts are shown to the grosz. The annual return rounds the tax base and tax to whole zloty, which can change tax by up to about PLN 1.
