How SalaryEye builds and verifies its calculators
Salary and tax figures are only useful if you can check them. Here is exactly how each country calculator is made, tested and kept current.
- Official sources onlyEvery rate, band, threshold and allowance comes from a tax authority, social security institution, statute or official gazette. Each figure is linked to its source, with the date we researched it. Commercial calculators and blogs are never used as evidence.
- Explicit profiles, no silent defaultsEach calculator states which employees it covers. When your situation needs a rule we have not modelled, the calculator says so instead of guessing.
- Hand-worked examplesBefore a rule set is published, at least one complete example is worked out by hand from the official rules. The calculator must reproduce it to the cent, or publication is blocked.
- Versioned, immutable rulesPublished rules cannot be edited. A correction or a new tax year is released as a new version, so every result can be traced to the exact rules used.
- Weekly source monitoringAn automated monitor revisits official sources and records a fingerprint of their content. A change opens a review; rules are only updated after a person has checked the new official text.
- Professional verificationWe are asking independent, registered tax professionals to review our calculators country by country. A country is shown as professionally verified only after a signed review, with the reviewer, scope and date, and only until the review expires.
What the trust labels mean
- Built from official sources: the calculator uses researched official sources and passes its worked examples. Automated monitoring has not yet confirmed most sources in the last three weeks, often because official sites block automated access; those sources are reviewed manually.
- Official sources monitored: at least half of the country's official sources were checked automatically in the last three weeks.
- Professionally verified: an independent registered tax professional has reviewed the calculator for the stated scope and signed off its results.
What we do not claim
SalaryEye gives estimates for the employee profiles each calculator states. It is not tax advice and does not replace your payslip, tax return or a professional. Each country page lists its assumptions and limitations.
Found something wrong?
Every country page has a "Report a problem" link. Reports are checked against the official sources, and corrections are released as a new rule version. See the verification status of every country.
